Difference between Reiki and Pranic Healing

Reiki and Pranic healing are currently among the most popular techniques of energy healing. Reiki was introduced around 100 years back whereas Pranic healing was introduced in 1990 and started gaining popularity after 2005. When starting the healing journey, many seekers want to know the difference between Reiki and Pranic healing.

With this article, we will try our best to clarify the differences between Reiki & Pranic healing and help you choose the right modality that suits you. Before we begin, we should keep in mind that all the modalities of healing are powerful and therefore comparison does not make one modality of healing superior to another. On the spiritual level, healing angels don’t care what modality we use. They will help us irrespective of what techniques or healing modality we use. However, there are pros and cons for each therapy and every therapy has a specific purpose when it comes to healing.

Here is the list of 8 major differences between Reiki and Pranic healing:

1. Both Reiki and Pranic healing serve the same purpose but with different techniques.

Pranic healing is based on the ‘no-touch’ formula, which focuses on utilizing the ‘prana’ from different sources to fully balance, transform and harmonize all the body’s energy and its process. Pranic healing was founded by Master Choa Kok Sui(MCKS) in 1990.

Reiki is the channeling of divine healing energy by touch or through Reiki symbols that help in healing the system with its own consciousness. It was introduced by Dr. Mikao Usui in the early 1920s.

2. Reiki is simple to learn whereas Pranic healing has an extensive scientific explanation.

Reiki doesn’t require much logical reasoning and it is simple to learn. With little explanation, a person can start practicing Reiki. Pranic healing has been explained in very detail which includes extensive details on chakras and thoughts, the Law of karma, pros and cons, areas of application, healing protocols, psyche self-defense, etc.

If you are a person who likes to know the details or science behind the healing, you should go for Pranic healing. Reiki can be chosen by people who are looking for simplicity with not much logical reasoning.

3. Pranic healing has shown better results in healing physical health problems whereas Reiki has shown better results in healing emotional issues.

As per many reviews and observations, Reiki is more about energizing chakras whereas Pranic healing focuses more on cleansing the chakras. Most of the latest and growing health problems require thorough cleansing of the chakras and therefore, this is one of the major reasons Pranic healing is given more preference over Reiki when it comes to healing physical health problems. Please note that Reiki also does cleanse but with its own consciousness. In Reiki, we don’t have any control over the cleansing & energizing process.
Pranic healing has a set of protocols for most health problems whereas Reiki has no specific treatment protocols. In Reiki, we need to depend on full-body healing which is time-consuming. Reiki has been found beneficial in developing faith and relieving stress, tension, etc. as the patient can feel the energy during the session when compared with the Pranic healing session. People find it easy to sleep by doing Reiki sessions themselves.

Reiki is not recommended for severe conditions like high blood pressure, heart problems, dizziness, drowsiness, cancer, glaucoma, etc. It might make the problem worse initially before showing results as energizing can worsen the problem.

Best Energy Healers Listed With us

All healers listed with us have more than five years of experience in healing different kinds of ailments or cases. Here are a few best healers we highly recommend for any type of problem that can be healed with energy healing. All these healers uses Pranic healing techniques.

4. Pranic healing is considered a bridge to spirituality whereas Reiki’s scope is limited.

Pranic healing is considered a bridge to spirituality itself. Reiki has a limited scope and may not in itself be considered a complete modality from the spiritual perspective. Almost every aspect(topic) of spirituality has been covered by Pranic healing in its courses and therefore it makes spirituality easy to understand which may otherwise take several years to understand.

Pranic healing is not just limited to healing – it has many effective ancient teachings of psyche self-defense, crystal healing, prosperity, managing business spiritually, and inner teachings of many religions.

Pranic healing is deeper than Reiki. Learning & teachings in Pranic healing is endless. There is continuous growth in Pranic healing. Reiki’s scope is very limited. This may be the reason for Reiki healers to turn towards Pranic healing, but it has been rarely observed where Pranic healers turned towards Reiki healing.

5. Pranic healing has validation tools that Reiki lacks.

Pranic healing provides one important tool which is called scanning. You can sense aura and chakra sizes and their activation levels to find out where is the problem and area can be treated effectively. In pure Reiki, there is no scanning tool and one depends on the inherent intelligence of the divine energy to do the job. Though Reiki goes to the place where is needed and the healer remains ignorant of the condition of the energy body. Ex: a migraine is a severe form of headache, so a reiki healer may place his hands-on head area for treatment, but a migraine is a result of dirty red prana going to the brain from the solar plexus chakra which is located in the abdomen area. This can be sensed quickly by the Pranic healer by scanning and he can quickly cleanse this area for rapid relief.

6. Reiki is easier to perform than Pranic healing.

Reiki is very easy to practice and doesn’t require any external objects or any specific protocol to remember. Pranic healing requires a water tub and salt to disintegrate dirty energies. Pranic healers are also required to remember & follow the guidelines and protocols.

7. Reiki has no standard guidelines to follow whereas Pranic healing has strict guidelines to follow.

It is very important to understand that both healing modalities work on energy levels and hence, both have to be handled carefully. Every healer and trainer needs to follow proper guidelines set by the teacher. In Reiki, there are no proper guidelines or a set of rules. There is no official book or written notes by Dr. Mikao Usui(founder of Reiki healing) which can be followed by Reiki healers and hence, the teaching seems distorted with time. We can’t say that there were no proper guidelines set by Dr. Mikao Usui but it seems the instructions were interpreted differently or modified by new Reiki healers. There are no written notes by Dr. Mikao Usui.

Pranic healers follow strict guidelines from the books published by MCKS, the founder of Pranic Healing. MCKS has clearly mentioned not to follow teaching outside of his books and asked to validate all teachings using a scanning technique. He emphasized using discernment instead of following or accepting teachings blindly. In Pranic healing, there are organizations to issue guidelines & standards that should be followed by Pranic healers. These organizations issue certifications to the healers and monitor them on a timely basis. These guidelines remain almost the same for all Pranic healing institutes all over the world.

Daily practice of Pranic breathing, forgiveness therapy, and meditation are prerequisites to practice Pranic healing. Reiki has no such prerequisite but many Reiki trainer follows breathing and meditation to purify themselves.

It has been also observed that many Reiki healers have started including some of the techniques of Pranic healing or from other systems in their Reiki courses. If you attend Reiki courses from 3-4 trainers, you will find a difference in their teaching methods, syllabus, fees, course duration, etc but the Pranic healing course syllabus remains the same among Pranic healing trainers.

8. Reiki is performed on 7 known chakras whereas Pranic healing focuses on 11 major chakras & minor chakras.

In Pranic healing, MCKS has introduced 4 more major chakras that are helpful in treating diseases like Blood pressure, infection, etc. Reiki is performed on the traditional 7 major chakras.

Similarities between Reiki & Pranic healing:
Following are the key similarities between Reiki and Pranic healing:
1. Both Reiki and Pranic healing can be used for psychological problems like stress, depression, tension, etc.
2. Both modalities have distant healing techniques. It means it is not necessary for a patient to visit a healer physically for healing.
3. Reiki uses symbols for advanced healing whereas Pranic healing utilizes color pranas for advanced healing.

Both the healing modalities have different pros and cons but both are powerful healing modalities. The only difference is that the real practice of Reiki has lost with time. It’s difficult to verify whether the Reiki we are doing is right or not. Reiki is pure & powerful but teachings seem distorted over a period of time as there is no organization to issue & monitor guidelines in Reiki.
